Quick note: #1 is a true bug, not just a feature, soccer's offside rule does not allow offside in your own half, and this has been in the top ten bug list for a month now. 05/12/2011 18:41

I think Rom means advanced formation - bringing your attackers slightly back like in line with your mids or other attackers so they dont go ahead of them.

I tried that against an opponent that defended in my half and my attackers refused to go forward even when the ball was way too forward.

1. Attackers cannot be called for offside in their own half.
2. More long-balls or through-balls for attackers to run onto. (Defenders GK can also run out to kick it away to make it more exciting)
3. Constant hacking down from behind by the defender should produce a red card. If a defender is genuinely quicker than the dribbling attacker he should run back past him and try a proper tackle once - either miss, get the ball or foul.
4. Once a mid or attacker is through the offside trap, he should not pass to a player ahead of the ball but rather take the ball up himself or wait for an attacker to come back on-side.
5. Two attackers versus one GK should produce a goal most of the time, 1v1 maybe 50% of the time.
6. An Advanced Tactic trigger to allow a manager to change formation if there has been too many offside calls.

1,6,2,3

Number 3 should include the ability to choose the behaviour you want from your defenders, otherwise you'll have games abandoned due to lack of players, Even my CF hacks people down and I doubt the game will do this intelligently.

Number 4 should be based on a players ability(Leadership or technique maybe)

number 5 no,no,no, no. One on one in real life against decent players doesn't have that high a chance and if I tried to score against peter schmicel then 50% is too high. In fact I'd expect him to save 99% of them.

50% is just a guideline - the system has it in place already anyway - a 20 GK will save maybe 3 out of 10 but an 80 GK (Schmeichel) will save 9 out of 10 as you say.

Then that doesn't need to be changed as it's already in place.

btw Spelling has never been my strong point
