MVP of the game

one thing i just noticed, and i think it's super interesting and unfair, is that all the division 2 teams are playing cup games at home...... how silly is this ?
the lower teams, that are struggling with money should have priority over the major teams. in any cup of any country, the major teams only start playing cup games when most of the small teams are already out. the FA Cup, copa del rey, taca de portugal, copa TIM, etc..., start at the same time as the league, but only with teams of lower divisions, they start playing against each other and knocking each other out. then when most of them are out, the 3rd, 2nd and 1st division get in the pot for the draw. I don't know if this is new for the developers, but they should've made a bit more research developing the striker cup.
when i saw i had no opponent for the cup game tomorrow, i went for the other teams of my league and my division to see if any of them had cup games, but since none of them had, i thought it was normal, i figured there weren't enough teams to start the cup so early in the game.
but out of curiosity i went to see the new division 2 and the games they will have this week, and i was really surprised and upset when i found out they will have a massive income tomorrow ( all of them are playing at home ) and most of the other teams, from lower divisions will struggle for yet another week with no income.
this is obviously a massive handicap for the small teams and clearly favourable for the big teams, most of them managed by @..... i don't know if this was done on purpose for the rich teams to be richer and dominate the game entirely, or if it's a bug... but i would like to see this fixed ASAP.

Look at it this way. Division 2 teams usually have a way bigger stadium than teams from lower divisions. That means the opposing team benefits too...big time!
I for example bag over 6 millions in every home game. In a cup game that gets split into two. Therefore that lucky manager of some startup division 7 team might get eliminated in round 1 if his team has to travel to my stadium, but he carrys home over 3 million which is way more than he would get if his team had a homegame. With this kind of money You can buy 1 or 2 players that are the very top in any 7 division group.

That means both sides benefit considerably from such an uneven game. If it's the other way around nobody really benefits. Nobody makes any money and the inferior team just gets eliminated and hardly any cash out it.

might be so, but at the moment the money is being split 50/50 between the top teams, and the lower ones are watching and asking for loans.
every country have a national stadium like the wembley stadium in london, england where the cup final is played.
maybe the developers could create a stadium ( maybe a clone of an average stadium with all type of seats ), for the sole purpose of having cup games, every team play in that stadium and the income would be split 50/50.
this might sound a bit extreme, but it's still better then the current situation.

If income is split 50/50 among the teams, then the lower teams make more money. If a div 2 team makes 8m a game but a div 7 team makes 500k, then instead of the div 7 team making 250k, they make 4m. It's a win-win.

I also don't have a cup game clearly we could be playing.

That's not how it works. In all tournaments you need to have a "play-in" round to knock the field size down to a power of 2, be it 256, 512, 1,024 or whatever. After the play-in round, every round knocks out half of the remaining players, till you have 1 winner.

It wouldn't matter so much if we were able to organise friendlies, but we can't because we are apparently in the cup, despite not getting any games.

All pretty annoying, but I'm still playing so...

As to the realism, the fact that the top division clubs are getting a better deal than the rest of us is pretty realistic, unfortunately, but it would be nice if the realism wasn't being made up with bugs and gaps like this one so we could at least plan ahead.

This is a one time thing, besides, you make more money in the cup than you do off of friendlies. I remember an @ telling me somewhere that 4 friendlies is equivalent to the revenue generated by one cup game. I'm not sure if this is true, but it's a lot better to have 1 cup match rather than 2 friendlies. 29/12/2011 20:20

And what will you get when you're restricted from that cup game too? 29/12/2011 20:47

And just why would cup game #2 get restricted? I'm talking about missing the first one, you won't miss two. So you have two spots for potential friendlies, but it still isn't worth it. 29/12/2011 21:06

would it not seem a fairer way of any team who did not get to play a game through no available opponents to be awarded a standard cash amount of say 1.5million per team , or an average of total income from all cup games to be paid per team?? this would address the uneven start to the cup regards generating funds for improvements. It is not the fault of my team that they had no opponent today!! it does feel that even before the season has started that my team have been punished through no fault of their own!!

Here is hoping fair play will be recognised and due funds are forthcoming

It's on dear friends it's on

No, not really, it's essentially doing nothing, why would you get paid for doing nothing?

The other teams get money at the cost of player stamina, so they're less likely to win tomorrow as well.
