First-team player
Best is to increase his wages by resigning him... People will not bid more than the release clause, instead they'll hostile him 08/01/2012 17:36

Best scorer
Suppose you get youth in school, his real value is a lot. So when you promote him, he gets a 1m release clause. You want to sell him for much more than his clause. Best thing to do is - Put the player on auction with a minimum Direct Buy, then buy the player yourself quickly. When you are buying him increase his salary as much you want his new release clause to be. This way the player will have a much higher release clause and will not be re-signed(R) 08/01/2012 17:43

2 seasons ago, I had a player go for more than his release clause on auction because 2 guys got in a bidding war. In fact, I sold a player last week who I expected to go for about $2.8 million who ended up going for $15.7 million (yes, I was happy about that). The best guide for what a player will go for is similar transactions. If that player has none, you can guesstimate or ask a fiscal @ what price to expect. Sometimes we will be guessing too, for very rare players.

I have found that for most under-valued players (those with low release clauses), when they are auctioned they go for the value regardless of release clause

what i really want to understand is ok for example i get a 14/36 cf from school with 85+prog.while in school different people have sent their offers ranging from 6 to 15m and i agree with someone.but when i promote him his release clause was 3.5m.if i just place him in auction and start it at 3m,will the auction continue even if someone bids 20m?or will it stop at the release clause?and how many days protection do i have incase i would want to loan him to someone. 09/01/2012 04:47

the auction will continue to infinity, release clause is ignored. You have 24 hours plus a few random hours
