What does the progression mean for a school player?

The average is determined by how high there average is when they are in the school.... The progression tells how fast they will reach there maximum "rating" or average.

Example: If I have a player with 17 average in the school with a 45 progression, when I promote him to junior team he is now a 35. The more training I give him the more he will improve. The progression just tells me how fast he will improve.
