This is really weird - I've set up an advanced formation, and most players are doing the right thing - but for some bizarre reason my CF has taken to passing the ball to another forward, then running back towards the center line! Only once the ball actually reaches the opponent's penalty box does he come charging forward - too late - to become part of the action! Result - my wings are left on their own, with nobody to cross the ball to! The only time the CF scores is direct from a free kick, or when he runs by himself the whole way! Any ideas? |

I've had this before, I can be a number of things and took me a while to iron out. Check where your red line is in tactics, don't have it all the way back. Too low effort can also contribute to this, if you're playing with 10-20% of the bar then the players get lazy and don't bother running up the pitch. You've pulled the guy too far back in advanced formation. One time this happened it seemed to be because my CF was pulled back behind a midfielder(don't ask why I did that). Check each of the 24 boxes and make sure that they are all correct and that the players flow correctly when moving the ball around. |

Aha, that's interesting. I never understood what the red/yellow/green lines were for in tactics; how does this work in conjunction with advanced formation? | 07/03/2012 11:05 |

It moves all of the relevant players back wards and forwards based on their starting positions. It's so if you want to change to be more or less attacking you can do that without having to build a whole new formation. |
