Note that the balls don't fall on the floor, they return to the machine. This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in the catcher cones. This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa . Amazingly, 97% of the machine's components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft , Iowa .. Yes, farm equipment! It took the team a combined 13,029 hours (6.26 years) of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see, it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian. Edited by @GunnerNic 16-03-2012 13:57 |

@Gunner Yo, That is the best thing I have ever seen in my life. Hands down that is the human mind at work! Great post I've watched it twice now, If that video isn't inspiration then I do not know what is. |

From year to year, the moon never seems to change. Craters and other formations appear to be permanent now, but the moon didn't always look like this. Thanks to NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we now have a better look at some of the moon's history |
