You can't resign for less than years left on contract and as 7 is highest numbers of years the game let's you increase by ( I think), you can't increase his years. From what I see, you won't be able to re-sign him until at least 2 seasons. And for that retiring thing, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. The game just can't explain the situation you are in |
