Just first and second.

There used to be some third place teams that got promoted but that ended when division one was created.

It'd could be a good thing to introduce, as it would make the end of season more interesting by keeping more teams in with a chance of going up.
Not sure how you'd determine who would make space in the above division if 3 teams went up.

What could be done is to have the third team play the next worst team in the upper division who didn't get relegated in a one-match playoff. Winner goes up (or stays), loser goes down. 08/09/2012 22:57

There are 16 leagues in Div3, so that's 16 teams that would have finished 3rd.
There are 4 leagues in Div2, so that's 4 teams who finished just above the relegation spot.
That's 4 versus 16, so not an even fixture.

This would be more complicated the further down the divisions you go.

Considering that almost half the teams in a league (8/20) get relegated in the current system, this would make it extra difficult in staying up.
Finding the teams to go up is easy, figuring out a system of relegation/play-off is tougher.

Yea, I didn't think about the logistics of it, just threw out an idea. It's tough to organize things like that. What if out of the 16 3rd placed teams in div 3 the 4 with most points, played the 4 3rd placed teams in div 2? 09/09/2012 18:29

I'd like to see something like that implemented. It'd really add something to the end of the season when so many teams have little to aim for (not near top, not near relegation).
With some many teams already relegated, it's just tough to find more teams to go down (when it can be a struggle for a team to stay up when promoted).

When would you play it? There's little to no time between server closing and opening again for the new season. In fact most times the server is closed on the wednesday after the last league game, open on thursday for the first league game on friday. If this were implemented it would have to close later and only for the benefit of the teams that made the play-off spot. 10/09/2012 04:26

Yea I agree with you @prac, the logistics are too hard to implement.
