In a nutshell, we should not interpret 99 finishing as 99% finishing. It's just a stat.
The thing that I don't like though is the frequent "tackle shots." Most of those will go in.

after having studied the forwards for past few seasons very closely, following is the scientific explanation for the accuracy:

To curtail high scoring matches, the Developers now make sure that all forwards have their retinas stretched to the extent that they eyeballs rotate in the eye-sockets... so what happens now is that their aim is accurate , its just that their vision is messed up. Thats why they miss the whole goal post many times.

I hope this saolves your dilemma.

Spade that is pretty much exactly what devs have said, in order to keep games to a reasonable scoreline accuracy is affected. It is a trade off totally unrealistic scorelines vs reduced accuracy. 23/10/2012 18:35

I personally think the issue isn't so much that Strikers miss so often.

15/16 - 0 games are very unrealistic. The solution to this is introducing more midfield play, which clearly won't happen for a while.

The quick fix solution, is to simply lower the accuracy on Strikers. Fair enough.

BUT, 25 shots on goal vs. 6 shots on goal = far too many draws, or wins in favour of the weaker team. The occasional game is fair enough, but in 99% of Football Matches across the world, the team with a clearly superior number of chances - Wins.

This doesn't happen in SM.

By simply saying this doesn't happen in SM doesn't mean it really doesn't happen in SM. Please don't mislead the new players.
I think who gets more QUALITY shots in SM still wins more ON AVERAGE. Of course, I don't have the statistics to support my claim either. So I am just speaking from my experience of playing this game for 20 months.

the things that influence the QUALITY are :
1. finishing stat
2. save stat of opponent GK
3. positioning when shoot
4. pass percentage
5. center/wide percentage
6. effort
7. stamina

and each player position has unique influence to the game.

it's also worth saying that if you play a deep covering defence all blocked shots are counted, even if they were blocked outside the penalty area.

The shot accuracy problem is bad enough, but the offside situation is just as bad...

One on one with the goalie strikers should be much more likely to shoot on target, like penalties, although they may have a good chance of saving the shot if they rush out.

How many times will I have to lose a game because my strikers are offside. I have been struggling to arrange my team so offsides are minimal but still it seems I average about 20 offsides per game.

Really this is very frustrating. And also it is rare for any player other than an OM or CF/LF/W to take any kind of shot on goal, despite their having very high shooting skills - shouldnt all midfielders with great shooting skills be taken shots a little more often?
