Dr Obehioye said: what kind of player is an LDF/RDF? I know we have fullbacks= LB and RB Then centre back= CDF So, how about LDF/RDF? Using Wikipedia to explain better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defender_(association_football) the Original CDF is the ancient position of --- Sweeper --- (like beckenbauer, baresi, nesta) Sweeper is also called Libero and he took his name from italian football language where he appeared for the first time. Libero means litterally "Free" (so it means that it is "free" from the fuction to mark the forward). His function was "start" the action and "cover" all the other defensor [for this reason in the game they have high dribbling and passing ![]() LDF RDF are instead --- Centre Back --- (puyol, cannavaro) In italian language he is called Stopper, that means stop or mark the forward Said that, Actually in all the team which play with 3 Defensor (like in 3-5-2), the defensor in the centre is called CDF (with a new meaning) the others LDF and RDF instead in all the teams which play with 4 Defensor, the two defensor on the centre are the "fusion" of CDF (with the actual mean) and L/RDF.
