There should be automatic rivalry between 2 teams of same div same gr....which the system choses...and when theres match betseen those 2 there should change the motivation..attendance and income....the rivalry should change every season....as some get promoted some get demoted...u know its kinda fun...to have rival matches.....that would create more interest in the game...more entertaining...and that symbol which will appear showing your next match against a rival...it creates a energy....to do something more to make a team more better...

I like the idea of rivalries whether they are user-chosen or SM-chosen. I think I prefer the system-chosen option more, though. I would actually base it on league position from the previous season. So teams who finished 1 and 2 would be automatic rivals in the next season in their new division (this would mean that teams would have to be promoted to the same league but that's not too major an issue). Teams 3 and 4 would be rivals in the next season as would teams 5 and 6, 7 and 8, etc. This should mean that rivalries would be well balanced.

The benefits I think would be appropriate would be a 10% increase in attendance levels for league games against rivals with a 10% motivational increase/decrease depending on the result. The motivational change should last a whole week, though.

That's what I was going for with the system and user combo- balance. I (politely) disagree with your method though, as most of my "rivals" in this game spawn from my private league- teams that I face over several seasons. Having them based off of rank means they only face each other twice, and one team could beat the other both times.

Well as long as you are being polite...

The reason I suggested the method of choosing who your rival is is to prevent abuse (not saying you would, but some would). If you were guaranteed a reward if you won a game then some people would bend the rules to do it.

That's why I proposed my original guidelines- to keep managers in check. However, I think some aspect of user involvement is important for any feature. My rivals should be determined by me one way or another, or there would be no "realness" to it.
