I propose that players start with random individual stats. By this I mean that a new 14 year old player would not just have a random total average and by that fact each individual stat is a set amount. Instead, each individual stat (passing, shot, dribbling, etc...) would have a normal range that would produce a random number for each stat, and then the total average would be calculated from those individual stats. Obviously, each position would have a normal range for certain stats. It wouldn't make sense for the normal range of shot for center-backs to be able to be in the 80's. Also, the normal range for a 14 or 15 year old would probably need to top out at 40 or 50 for each individual stat (that's just a rough estimate). But we could create more unique players by having the individual stats vary when a player is first created. This may not seem radically different from what we have now, but I think we could do cool things from this system. First, we could have a very low chance to have individual stats be very good. This would be a very low chance, but we could create some interesting players with this. Especially when that chance could extend to individual stats that normally aren't trained for a specific position. For instance, a left back could be created by very rare chance that starts with 50 shot. Now, when the player is trained like a normal left back, you have a good defensive back that also has an ability to score (but would still be at 50 through the players training since left backs can't train shot). This would reflect players like Jordi Alba who is a good left back that can score goals as well. And if tactics were made a little more complex, this could create really interesting tactics. Secondly, schools could have specialties. Such as the Spain school produces players that tend to have better passing scores when they are first created or the German school tends to produce players that have better strength. This could add a new dynamic to schools. |

I have mixed feelings, and I'll try to be as clear as possible. Overall, I like this idea, but I have some hesitations. I think it would be nice to have some randomization with different stats, but I think it would be negated by the training the player receives. Currently, when you buy a senior, the stats can vary wildly- you can have an OM with high shots but low passing or one with mid-both. Users train their juniors differently and stats will even out eventually as the player achieves a higher and higher average. I think that the idea for individual stats to be good is already somewhat implemented- very occasionally you will have a junior out of school with 50+ average, or a GK with amazing save %. As I said before, the higher the stat, the harder to train, so once again this benefit would be negated over time. However, I think that if you extend this idea to include stats that aren't normally trained, this could be very interesting. +1, but like 90+ prog players, this needs to be extremely rare to remain "cool". I don't know how easy this would be to implement though, and developers usually like the easy ones most. As for your school idea, part of me likes this and part of me doesn't. I always push for more diversity in the market and I think you could achieve this if it was implemented more for the lower-rated schools. Leave the highest (Germany, Spain, etc) as they are and make others (Poland, Ireland, Chile) more "specialty". That way more diverse players would be available for training and you wouldn't see the farming system extending to schools as well. Overall, I think this is a great start but needs some work- which should come as the replies roll in. Let's see what the rest of the forum does with it. |

I like the idea but would limit it to very specific stats. For example, a CF comes out of school with a very high ball steal stat or a defender with a very high shot stat. Not exactly game breaking, but would add a nice bit of flavour to the game. | 30/10/2013 14:45 |
