As for the Falklands, I think it should just be left out of football. Argentina played a friendly last week, I think, in which their players lined up in front of a protest banner. I doubt they really wanted to do that, rather the call came from high up. I think it's a bit sad that football is used in such a way. So far we have seen some terrible refereeing. Good thing Netherlands v Spain has never caused any controversy in the past - should be an easy one for the ref... When we were there we saw a group of about a dozen young girls, 18-20 yr olds, protesting outside the Presidential residence saying that Argentina should go back to war. I don't think they were put up to it by the Christina, [We also saw protests against the government.] I think they were just young, naive, and maybe a bit ignorant. They certainly weren't going to be the ones getting shot at were they? My experience while there was that like many countries there were a lot of people in the capital who complained about Islas Malvinas but those outside of the capital could care less. They were more concerned with good social services being continued rather than a president spending money on un-needed things as part of a re-election campaign (lots of building going on when we were there last summer before the fall election - lots of banners that the president was responsible for the building) As for the banner at a friendly, I agree that probably was setup by the government and most of the players would want not want to be part of it. And yes, football as the worlds most popular sport should be seen as a uniting endeavor, not a stage for politics.... Interesting. I would love to go to Argentina, and I am sure I would not experience any bad feeling towards me as a person (as long as I kept my mouth shut about my father serving in the war)! http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27846311 Seems like I wasn't entirely alone in thinking it was over the line this recent protest. Sometimes I really agree with FIFA, and other times I really disagree (mostly with Blatter). I think in this case I support an investigation at least, because if that becomes acceptable in football I worry for what else might be acceptable. |

As a Nigerian, i'll continue supporting the super eagles..Go Eagles Go.................. Did someone see Campbell give Uruguay defenders no rest all night? Wow!!! He did the same for my beloved club tho (man utd). So i was expecting it. So confident a young man |

T. Mayor, congrats on a nice win today. Was a good reminder to me that when I fix a formation used in league, I should probably check for the same errors in my formations used in PL. For those that still wonder about playing a high OT, watch this goal: http://en.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=15515334&accion=simul&turno=7907 oh and for the tacticians here, the formation had the def up to the half way line but the def tactical slider was pulled back between the yellow lines. Edited by vgates 16-06-2014 06:58 I really haven't invested any effort in my PL formation but I am sure there are some effects of playing at 0%. Case in point, and with the same formations, in my league I am one of the biggest scorers, and my forwards rarely let me down. Same formation in the PL...doesn't work. The game yesterday against Shaolin Corinthians looked a load closer than it really was (sorry oldfirm). The Corinthians defense was nicely lined up on the halfway line, and on several occasions my forwards received the ball with 50 yards to run into. In the league this would have been game over, but in the PL it just has not worked for me enough. The PL is a far higher standard than my regular league, but still, I see the difference with my strikers. It seems the effect of quick forwards and explosive counter attacks is somewhat neutered at 0%. Like the forwards have slowed down more than the defenders playing under the same conditions. This, in my opinion, negates the value of the PL in creating tactics just a tiny bit, or shows that the PL should not be the sole testing ground - use those friendlies (which have other problems). I am not yet going to look into any deeper meaning, but I may do next season. Edited by sicox86 17-06-2014 16:12 |

oh vgates - i'm also surprised by the result. The 1st leg ended 1 - 1, after which i went on losing 1 - 4 to the leader (Fandi...) Glad to see i will be playing him days after yours(at least i can now think well). Buh, seeing my Junior forwards score goals with less qualms baring their experience seems great to me... Tho, the result do flatter that i think is as a result of that error you left unfixed.. Buh, i wont mind another flattering one against Fandi...... Atleast 1pt outta that 6 against the leader will be nice. NB: 20:00today, it's IRAN - NIGERIA |

http://en.strikermanager.com/liga.php?id_liga=70494 In my opinion I am top of the league after beating 3rd place. It's also my opinion that I need just 2 points to promote. Others may disagree with this, and that is their opinion.... |

I've only conceded 7goals up to date still in line with my target of conceding not more that 10goals and with the maximum points of 105 up to date(more than expected) i shouldnt have much problems getting the max 114points.
