The way I assign my GK skills is panther save, precise pass, aerial play. Does precise pass matter you may ask? I'm not sure. I took a random look at the 12th placed team in group 1 of Div 5, 4, and 3. Passing stat in Div 5 and 4 was low. Passing stat in the Div 3 team was 100% and there were no skills assigned to precise pass for the GK. Granted the stats are not necessarily 100% accurate but whatever their bug is, it is probably consistent so it's still apples to apples comparison. Does aerial play do anything? No clue. You have to assign the skill somewhere in order to get to the max 3 on panther save. If you are competitive in the cup, it may make sense to apply skill points to the penalty expert but I have no data one way or the other if that works. I leave that to the more experienced managers. The one thing that doesn't make sense is to apply skill points for the GK that are used outside the 6yd box. If you haven't seen this yet, the GK will never move outside the 6yd box. If a clearance from the opponents defensive 3rd lands inside the 18yd box but outside the 6yd box, the GK will run to the edge of the 6yd box and run in place, starting at the ball as if he has a leash tied to him like a dog. He'll keep running until either one of your defenders returns and clears the ball for an opponent corner, or your opponents forward collects the ball. So don't bother applying points to those type of skills. |
