Can someone clarify for me how some teams can afford $100 million or close in player salaries? I am in Div. 4 and am able to bank aprox. $25 million per week, after expenses. At this rate, I can save $1 billion in a 10 month period, almost 3 complete seasons. Yet, many teams have rosters where almost their entire teams are valued at $1 billion plus, not to mention those very high player salaries that go along with those quality of players. I guess my point is, that even if I can save $1 billion in 3 seasons, each time I add a player like that, my expenses raise exponentially, until I reach the point where I am spending more than I can save, or even earn. Would someone share their thoughts on how to increase revenue in order to afford a $100 million weekly player salary total? 01/05/2017 19:52

Some managers have been around for a long time and amassed tens of billions. They invest those monies in deposit, which at 7% per season gives them $70m per season per $1b deposited, or $5.38m per week. That offsets expenses.

They also purchase high prog juniors each year and train them up to sell. Three or four of those each season when 18 and the money adds up quickly.

Also, each Div generates more revenue. Div 2 is about $24m per home game. With a 14 mbr PL, thats 32 home games per season. The higher the Div and the higher the table, the more you make off of billboards and sponser/TV revenue.

The higher the Div and larger number of supporters, the more sales you make in the store. I average $1.4m per day gross in store sales. When I did catering, I could earn an extra $1m gross per home league/PL game.

They also schedule friendlies when out of the cup. If you are in Div 1 and make $50m per home league game, that's an extra $5m per friendly.

Add all that up. Not so hard really.

Edit:

I looked at my last season Rev v Exp, excluding buying and selling players. I had $1.2b in rev on $775m in expenditures. Include selling and buying players and I had a $100m net loss but I had savings from the prior year.

Of note, I have never had more than $2b in deposits. The most I have paid for a player is $1.1b and the most I have sold a player for is $1b.

My point is, if patient, you can scrape yourself up into Div 2.

Thank you for sharing that information. With what you explained, I can now see a path forward instead of just groping in the dark with my limited game knowledge. 02/05/2017 15:39
