Adding here because it should be in every thread as often as possible.

Gentlemen, regardless of your optimism about your personal abilities...

1] Every day a player is on your youth roster after he turns 19, that player loses an entire point of progression. So, you absolutely must promote all hi-progression youths before they lose even one point.. or sell them on the market. That way you will maximize your own $$ return --- because a player's rating and their progression are both important at all times.

2] Motivation : If you haven't paid attention to motivation before... Time to start.
No matter how many high progression players you CAN purchase, the ones you SHOULD purchase are players you can either place in your starting lineup in their original defined position or keep on your substitutes bench. The game has defined a maximum number of these players.. and uses the Motivation metric to rigidly enforce those positions.
If you deviate from this, you will not train that player to a high enough rating to break even on the initial purchase - let alone make a profit.
a] Calculation
Players, even hi-progression players, who are on reserves bench have a motivation of 55%. Players who start at positions on youth team outside of their stated positions have a motivation of 20%.
That number is a direct multiplier of the training for that day.
If the motivation is 55%.. that means the player will achieve only 55% of the maximum possible training for that day. Over time, that translates directly to.. the player will train only 55% of what would be possible if you started him correctly. In a couple days I'm promoting a LIM who i trained from 37 to 88 in youth. If his motivation had been 55%, even with the same high progression, he would have only trained to rating 65 -- and would be entirely worthless. [37+ { (88-37) * 0.55} ] is the calculation.

b] Reasons to pay attention to motivation

One, it maximizes the use of your cash. Once you fill up your substitutes bench.. No reason to spend money because you don't get to train any more even if you want to. To be clear, we all want to.
Two, it allows you to increase your return on the other players you are starting correctly. The motivation in your team changes whether you win, lose, or draw:
Junior Squad: 110% [win] , 105% [draw] , 95% [loss]. Only changes after league games [3x weekly].
Senior Squad: 105% [win] , 95% [draw] , 80% [loss], changing daily.
And that's the motivation on positions if started correctly.

To motivate people to train well, if I'm allowed, I'll post screenshots of strikers trained by me from 14-15 years old the progress are 90-95, and so they can see how they end up when they're veterans, many managers have asked me about them, I don't know if they'll be better or worse but I'm happy

I have had many offers for them, even for one they offered me a blank check, I think 4000 if I remember correctly. I sold many but these I have been able to keep. With this I encourage everyone to train well because looking at what levels are taken and great offers much better than training badly. I never trained them penalty kicks until they were 21 years old, the youngest

and please play friendlies in non-beta effortlessly, players don't get tired and gain skills. It's really hard to find people who don't play them in beta. I hope that option disappears

DFM Training
DFM is a combination of xIM and xDF.. they can’t be maxed with solely one or the other. Perhaps they can if you keep and train a 95+ progression one; I doubt it.
The challenge with DFM is that the only way you get 90+ passing or dribbling or technique is by training xIM; the only way you get 90+ aggressiveness is by training xDF.
Aggressiveness is the ability/willingness of a player to attack a player who’s dribbling – a DFM without aggressiveness doesn’t have a purpose.

There’s multiple ways to train DFM:
1] Buy and train DFM as part of training xDF, following normal xDF training as described elsewhere. If you do this you should expect your passing/dribbling to remain under 85 even in division2. You will have 2 starting spots for DFM in any lineup you’re using to train xDF so this will suffice.

2] Switch your trainings between youth and senior teams. In youth team your player gets xDF training; at some point the player moves to senior team where you’re training xIM to ensure that passing stat can get over 90+ by age 22 or so. Only problem is you’ll need to start DFM in either 1 or 2 spots in a lineup in which you’re otherwise training xIM.
If you’re training xIM in youth, you want to promote to your senior xDF training no later than age 16 so that the aggressiveness stat has sufficient time to get to 95+.

Note that keeping DFM within xIM training by adding clearances into the xIM training rotation also doesn’t work. This results in neither position getting trained sufficiently because you’re sacrificing 2 days out of every 12 for the xIM’s [because clearances training does nothing for xIM] as well as 2 days out of every 12 for the DFM’s [because shots-on-goal training does nothing for DFM].
Over multiple seasons, these training gaps add up and will result in your xIM’s and DFM's barely getting past 92 overall [even with excellent progression] and DFM’s barely getting to 92 on aggressiveness which will make them not great at their primary function of being a defender.

It will be much easier to focus only on xDF training. You'd then sell to players doing xIM training who will purchase your players at overall rating 90,91 and "finish" the passing/dribbling stats via their normal training sequence.

General Notes
*Training any player in senior team is just as much about understanding the strengths/weaknesses of each type of training as well as the training itself.
*When you're training something, older [30+] players who trained up using that training are now going red and losing rating points --- only when you train those items that specifically train their position. 32 year old forwards don't lose rating while you're training Tackling.

LIM/RIM
Most 93+ rated LIM and RIM have dribbling [slightly] higher than passing - 98 passing,99 dribbling or some such. This is because BC training does marginally more for the dribbling skill than IDP training does for the passing skill. Some don't care; I do.

You have to address this early because if you wait until they're in senior squad, passing could be 2 entire points behind dribbling.. and by then it'll never catch up. First month of age16 in my youth, the xIM's get a full month of doing IDP as frequent as possible and everything else fits in around that.

Also, senior squad the last 3 seasons I do as follows:

In my rotations , every other time through I switch BC with running... because running is also trained in the other training I do in senior.

For LIM/RIM, ShotsOnGoal is part of my rotation. This also trains forwards. Because I keep my forwards until age33... while I'm training SOG, I put my 30+yo forwards on substitutes bench where they lose only 0.001 rating. So I plan my trainings using Excel to only train SOG on tuesday and thursday.

As well, I want to have my passing and dribbling at 99.. the tackling and the running will max along with my training of xDF which I do after these guys are finished. Only do the below after you have tackling in your LRIM above 80.. follow the normal routine until then [with the slight IDP modification].

SOG [tuesday]
BC
SOG [thursday]
BC
R[un]
IDP
IDP -- end of pass 1

SOG
BC
SOG

CDF -- Formations in Senior for Training
Youth is much more restrictive than senior regarding the positions they will receive near-max-motivation % for starting in. My youth squad currently contains a bunch of CDF along with only the LRDF who will start for my teams in 6,7 seasons. This is to maximize the players trained when I do RWB.. DFM and LRDF gain nothing from that one, so if you're going to train any CDF, might as well get the most benefit from it.
In senior you can start a 5-2-3 for your PL/friendly matches with CDF situated in all 5 defender positions and the 2 DFM's. Players started at DFM or LRDF won't get 110% motivation but it won't be worse than 95%. You'll of course need to pick which players get to sit on your substitutes bench for normal league games so some of them will be sentenced to reserves 60% motivation during normal league, but it's very money-making.

Feel free to experiment with this for other positions. Can forwards be used in wing positions? Perhaps at the OM as well given that xF and OM is analogous to xDF and DFM? I can't give away all the secrets, some of these tricks are the fun of doing it for yourself!

The deep mysteries of Striker Manager Classic are left for you to discover.

This is an additional side benefit of flipping trainings from batch to batch -- My 55+ rated IM's that fill out the starting lineup for xDF in youth were created by putting low-80-prog players from my schools on reserves bench and letting them train slowly. Same thing now with training DF's for when i go back to xIM in 2024 19/05/2023 20:05

One additional training item for xDF

You'll find yourself wanting to increase the passing stat of your xDF - CDF definitely and LDF and RDF will need to be above 80 to be d1.
The longer you wait, the harder it will be. I find myself usually spending the age 15 season of my youngest batch of xDF doing your normal xDF trainings but incorporating Intercepting Passes as frequently as possible while doing the rest normally. Big beneficiary of this are your CDF as INT trains those more fully than LRDF.
To me this is the xDF variant of cranking running and SOG for your 14&15yo xIM.

INT
Clear
TACKLE
RUN
RWB

Is the normal cycle.
This change is 2 INT then a total of 5 trainings, then 2 more INT, etc:

2xINT

2xCLR
2xTCK
1xR

2xINT

1xR
2xRWB
2xCLR <-- back to the top of the list. Repeat.

2xINT

2xT
2xR
1xRWB

I also sometimes skip RWB depending on my sense of the need for CDF technique.. choose your own adventure.
