@GunnerNic said: Ok, clearly I'm not done. This is what I mean about disrespect: @CelloG said: Your argument is a straw man. ..to point out the flaws in your argument... ...which is only your personal crusade... I have no problem with disagreement, there's just no need to get personal, if you have a problem with me personally, then take it off-forum. The first statement is a logic term, I didn't see it as disrespect. Second was attack on argument not personal, but could probably be worded different and context can hurt for sure.. Third... OK, that actually included the word personal, and evidence indicates while this is a cause for you, it's not a crusade and you do have company... So this was a bit off base... I personally think that the offside piece is fine as is and 2 things. 1. Concentrate on bugs that are more significant. 2) identify exactly how they are going to change it. This is a big argument (logical sense) about unclear terms. It may be something as minor as better through balls, which would be good, or as bad as actually changing the player behavior... Like having defenders magically fall over. You don't know, and they aren't listening to all the back and forth. So invalid, unsound, or just plain irrelevant... It won't matter. |

Also. I'm going to whip out....the friend card. @gunnernic @cellog. You guys are the two I respect the most in this game. Two guys I intend to know long after this game is out of my life. regardless of who's right or wrong (we have no way to tell because he is unclear: penalize is a very poor choice of words by him) One thing is also clear...this is a slightly emotional issue. Agree to disagree on this one, neither of you are going to convince the other...you are both smart guys with hard heads who don't like losing...at anything. Which is why I respect you |

and how often do they respond or even read the common manager's message? Just saying, since you guys are closer to them (i know until now you know as much as we do) if they do say anything in your little @ hideyhole, send it to everyone quick. I know its unlikely they will tell anyone before the changes, but just incase they have become any better at dealing with users... |

turnaround time from something in Moderators forum to posting here varies from instant to 6 hours since I've been @. I'm not sure what it was before we 4 horse*** of the @pocalypse were given @. | 03/12/2011 09:00 |

FC Ubuntu said: I totally undestand that. My point is that number of offside calls should be added as part of the game situations for tactics change. I like this. It is easy to implement and more or less addresses the concern. |

@CelloG said: If you require 100% agreement to feel respected then I can't help you there . Let's not distract from the essential point: We have a list of bugs that DESPERATELY need fixing and have been problems for months. The devs of SM have a habit of adding new features and ignoring this list, often adding several new bugs in the process (remember the salsa bug?). "punishing defenders in offside trap" (@rand's update) is not in that list. You can convert that to any interpretation you desire, but it's very clearly not on the top 10 list. I frankly don't care whether it could make the game "better." Every new feature they've introduced has had 4 new bugs, which often has large consequences for users. With limited resources it will just push some of the critical bugs to the bottom of the list yet again, and I am publicly posting here because it needs to be heard that this is no longer acceptable. The best time to change this behavior is after fixing the critical bugs. Anything else is utter disrespect for the paying customers of striker manager, and this is the only respect that is important. Administrators (and moderators) don't deserve respect, they (we) already have power. We owe the users humility, and should expect scathing and loud criticism in return so that we can know where the game needs improvement. As both user and moderator, I will continue to both fight for users and loudly criticize mistakes of the higher-ups as long as I am @. If this is not what the big honchos wanted when they @ed, me, then they can always take it away, but I'm pretty confident it's appreciated because the game is better as a result. </sermon> Amen brothers and sisters! I second this. Given the long string of unfixed (and more serious) bugs, the offside trap is really a minor concern. Besides, nobody is preventing you from using offside traps as well. So you are not at a disadvantage. Also, I am sure some of you have noticed as well. The way that offside is working now is different from how it was working at the start of the season. Offside was calculated based on the position of the receiving player when he RECEIVED the ball. That was a bug. What you have now is not a bug. It is just part of the game. Needless to say, parts of the game need improvements, but let's get our priorities straight. |

Oh man, looks like this is a hot topic. I'll add my two pence (cents to the yanks & Europeans!). 1. I, on average get caught offside 10 times or more......but that's because I have not adjusted to the new model. 2. I am studying for my coaching badge (football licence.). I attended a seminar given by a great and respected football coach who drilled Arsenals best defence. George Graham and in real life, offside trap operated well is nearly impossible to defeat. However, amongst the trainee coaches there was real debate as to the level of difficulty in executing it rightly. It seems SM is having the same problem, both in attacking and in defending. Nothing out the ordinary there. I think people need to remember this is simply a game and a free game at that. SM does not have infinite amount of resources to fix every issue, nor is it going to be perfect until a lot of hard work, blood and tears (mostly mine it seems!). Lets enjoy and be jolly! |
