Me too in same problem like this ...!!
For example -

If u have a 20yo CF avg. 56 prog. 89
& u train forward in seniors !
but....there is another CF 25yo avg. 64 & he's decreasing with training

so..
If we try to train that 20yo CF ....Then our 25yo CF's avg. decreases !!
In this condition........what could be a nice move...!! ?

yes it is, if you don't train them, then they don't get worse. One of the reasons I like old GK's.
