(full) Zonal advantage: Players stay in position so if you pack the defense for example they will keep that wall up (full) Zonal disadvantage: Only one player really moves and sometimes you will find that if the opponent goes through the defense, everyone but one player is trying to stop him at the time while the others will just stay behind watching. They don't mark anyone either so if your defense has multiple holes, you will get frustrated seeing the opponent use the same tactic to pass through every single time. (full) Man-Marking advantage: All the players try to do something. They all move around with some of them trying to mark someone, others attacking the guy with the ball and others kinda filling holes in your defense. (full) Man-Marking disadvantage: It will mess up any formation you use. Defenders are all over the place and most of them are nowhere near the position assigned to them. Not all of them are marking someone either so I wouldn't advice going full man marking if you don't have fast defenders. Since sometimes a player may be man marking someone offside, this could destroy your offside trap. |

Mine's more of a why in that case. There's a circle around each player. Thats how much of the pitch that thelayer can see for tackling purposes. More man to man the smaller the circle, more zonal the bigger the circle. If they can see the ball in their circle, then they try to move towards it. Its why if you have full zonal, then your defense will go running up the pitch like lunatics. And full man to man, sees everyone standing around with their thumb up their bums. |

@grantis, those tips are extremely helpful. ![]() But I think the zonal vs. man to man is opposite to what you said. The man to man increases the circle, so the players usually run to where the ball is to tackle while zonal decreases the circle, meaning the players stay in position more. |
