Here's a new kind of table for those of you who have just joined the PL. This table shows the current promotion and relegation standings for each of our groups. C1  A1  A2  One more violation for Concilio of C1 or The Cardiacs of A1 and these teams will be disqualified...I think it will be a long season if you get disqualified so early! |

to put things in perspective, can we remove the 3 pnts earned from the violated games and also reduced number of games played from teams that played against teams that violated the rules? e.g. zatworth and I have played 3 serious games; cardiacs has 3 pnts, instead of 9. |

Hi Tyekanik, Nice thinking there! With the official tables, there's no way we can change them, so that's not worth discussing more. With these unofficial promotion/relegation tables, this is theoretically possible, and I accept that any way we do it, some will benefit and some will lose out. However, if we take 3 points off those who have used above 0% effort, we end up putting a value on cheating - 3 points. The upside to this is the league table looks more realistic, and reflects what we want to see here. The downside of this is that this could mean dishonest teams could calculate exactly how much they can cheat and still finish where they want. Same if we say - 6 points for a violation, some could still try and manipulate the situation - there is a risk that several complicated threads could run through the tables in ways I can't comprehend. As for reducing the number of games against those who violated the rules - officially impossible, unofficially this would make my head hurt when making the tables and would also have some people thinking it was unfair on them (I suspect those 3 teams against whom the offending team became disqualified). And anyway, surely the good teams here would never think about manipulating the table and tactical cheating would they? Surely not... |
