1) Tactics
* Is it better to pack the offensive box, or put only 1-2 players near the goal? Should OM sit just outside the 18 waiting to be a poacher, or where?
* Is it better to have a spaced bunch of players following the ball around the field, or should the formation maintain spacing across the entire field regardless of where the ball is?
2) Training
* Is it better to switch positions after training one "group" of players from 14 to promotion to use in your side, or do many of you just keep training the same position in youth and sell for profit?
* Is training in senior team at a slower rate than the training in youth?
3) Schools
* Don't you find yourself spending a lot of GB's to activate the FC/Prog of youth you're selling? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

About training, it is better to use the farming strategy, which means having all xDFs, xIMs, xBs-xMs, xFs. This allows you to train them consistently and speed up their development and sell them while they are still young or train them till their maximum potential and then promote them to use them in your line-up.
Older players develop at a slower rate (I can tell you so by my own experience, even if I am not so experienced) and you also have to consider the fact that a 15yo 40avg 90prog will develop faster than a 15yo 70avg 90prog.

About GBs, you can extract extra profit by showing FC/prog on the market an advertising, otherwise you can only advertise them on the forum, which is a correct strategy, but not as affective as using GBs and advertising.

No, pack the midfield and defensive positions. Forwards are literally capable to dribbling past opposition defenders countless number of times. There will be 3 possible outcomes if the forward doesn't score,
a) The defender blocks it and clears it towards the half-line.
b) Goalkeeper catches it and takes a kick, towards the half-line.
c) Ball goes out and there will be a goal kick.

In the first two scenarios, you'll see the ball quickly goes to the halfway line, that means you need some players there to gain possession back and pass it accurately for another attack. So a mid staying back is an ideal way of stopping a quick attack from your opposition.

That will depend on how efficient your training is, if you don't have necessary prep to train positions like OM, LIM/RIM, CDF/RDF(both together), don't try it.
However, you should rotate if you think you're not able to train your farming position properly, since you'll be losing out on quite a lot of money if you don't switch to a better one.

3) Schools
* Don't you find yourself spending a lot of GB's to activate the FC/Prog of youth you're selling? Is it worth it?

Try completing free GBs offers, you could bag in a hundred every month. Enough to keep the stock of GBs up.
The worthiness? Yes, imagine a manager having to choose between 2 players of same average, prog and forecast, but only one player has his progression visible. And that player would obviously fetch more money than the other player.

Thanks!

You're welcome.

Seems odd that the game as coded has the xF/xW/OM take on a packed defense by himself.. wild.

Can anyone give me any hints/ideas?

In my game today, I outplayed my opponent [player averages were better] but he outscored me. So... what should I be looking for as I try to update my tactics?

Here's the 3-year-in-game noob player asking for advice again... I'm having issues with my defensive line, since I cannot avoid being scored too often. In 6 league games, I scored 31 times (not bad at all) but I got scored 29 times (which is seriously awful). Do you have any tips on how to improve my defensive strategy? Today's game was a heads up, I won... 9-6! 08/04/2015 18:38

Looks like you are still using basic tactics...your xBs are too wide and too deep. When you are defending yourself from an attack to the box your defensive line is too open, there are many holes through which the attackers can sneak and attempt the shot. Try to pack your defense and form a wall that can protect the goal line or the box...somebody much more experienced than me might be more detailed and more reliable, but that's my advice for you

If I switch to a back line of CDF-DFM-CDF instead of RDF-CDF-CDF-LDF:

Is aggressiveness an issue with any LIM/RIM that I would use to drop back and cover the left and right sides of the pitch?

Even if LIM/RIM have ballsteal>70, they wouldn't have the same aggressiveness as LDF/RDF.

I'm considering switching to increase the passing completion %

Here's something you can experiment. I gave Yubix these tips and they seemed to work very well for him.

Place two defenders on the ball when it's near the goal, plus atleast one on the right and one on the left, this is effective so every time your opponent skips past a player, you have another one at the behest to intercept him. At the centre line, place your xWs/xFs (whichever has better dribbling) on the ball, and move forward with them. You don't need to pack your forward line with midfielders, keep them a bit behind when the ball is in the opponent's half, when the ball is cleared to your half, there will be players to recover possession.
> From tactics point of view, keep varying efforts with time. Play 75-80 until 30 mins, relax at 50-60 for a while - This is crucial point, because if you keep all the other parameters of your tactic same, the tactic may backfire, so experiment with man marking and style of play.
> Then move to original 80 efforts after 45, and up it to 100 after 75mins.
